Social Media Team Member

About this Role

Help amplify Humanists Australia's voice online. As a volunteer Social Media Team Member, you'll support HA's social media presence, helping share ideas about living compassionate, ethical, and fulfilling lives without religion with our growing online community. You'll assist with creating content, engaging with followers, and keeping our platforms active and inviting, all from home, with flexible hours that fit around your life. Working alongside a warm, collaborative team and reporting to the Social Media Manager, you'll gain real not-for-profit and social media experience, and references to help you land your dream job. Objectives

  • Support growth in HA's following and engagement across social media platforms

  • Help maintain a consistent, active presence across HA's channels

  • Contribute fresh content ideas that resonate with our audience

Key duties

  • Help create and schedule posts across HA's social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube)

  • Assist with repurposing content from live streams, discussion groups, and videos into social media posts

  • Monitor comments and messages, responding to or flagging enquiries as appropriate

  • Support the Social Media Coordinator with tracking engagement and basic reporting

  • Stay across relevant trends and formats to suggest fresh content ideas

  • Contribute ideas about content and growth strategies in online discussions with other team members

Skills and qualities required

  • Proactive and self-motivated

  • Good written communication skills, with an eye for tone and audience

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and their formats (Stories, Reels, Shorts, threads, etc.)

  • Good technical skills. Our technical stack includes Zoom, GSuite (Google Drive and Gmail), and Slack for instant messaging. Training will be provided as required.

You will need

  • A laptop, desktop, or smartphone suitable for managing social media accounts

  • A good internet connection
