About this Role
Help share humanist ideas, one article at a time. As a volunteer Content Creator, you'll write blog posts or articles for Humanists Australia on topics that matter to people living compassionate, ethical, and fulfilling lives without religion. This is a low-pressure, flexible role, there's no minimum output required, even the occasional post is a genuine help. Whether you want to write regularly or just contribute when inspiration strikes, you'll have the freedom to pitch your own ideas or write on topics suggested by the team, all from home, in your own time. Working alongside a warm, collaborative team and reporting to the Program Engagement Managers, you'll gain real not-for-profit and writing experience, and references to help you land your dream job. If you enjoy writing and want your words to make a difference, even occasionally, this is your chance to help build a more humane Australia, one post at a time.
Objectives
Grow the volume and variety of blog content published by HA
Provide fresh, engaging content that reflects humanist perspectives on relevant topics
Give members and visitors more reasons to return to HA's website and channels
Key duties
Write blog posts or articles on humanist topics, either self-pitched or suggested by the team
Research topics as needed to ensure accuracy and depth
Submit drafts for review and incorporate feedback where needed
Suggest topics or angles that could resonate with HA's audience
Contribute posts as often or as occasionally as your time allows
Contribute ideas about content direction in online discussions with other team members
Skills and qualities required
Enjoys writing, with reasonably strong written communication skills
No fixed schedule required, just a willingness to contribute when you can
Good technical skills. Our technical stack includes Zoom, GSuite (Google Drive and Gmail), and Slack for instant messaging. Training will be provided as required.
