Humanists Australia appoint first CEO
The Humanists Australia board are excited to announce that we have employed our first ever Chief Executive (CEO) to convert our HA Vision into reality. Dr Heidi Nicholl has signed up for three years, subject to funding, with the first year already funded thanks to a generous gift from Humanists Victoria specifically for that purpose.
We're sure you'll find Heidi as exciting as we do for this role, and welcome her energy and enthusiasm onto the Humanist Australia team.
Humanists call for the release of Mubarak Bala
On the one-year anniversary of the detention of Mubarak Bala - President of the Humanist Association of Nigeria - a coalition of 86 organisations and concerned individuals across the globe, including Humanists Australia, have published an open letter addressed to the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, seeking his immediate release.

At a Special General Meeting on April 20, Humanists Australia elected its first Board. The successful nominees were:

Humanists and Connection to Country
Can a humanist identify at all with "a spiritual connection to country"? HA Acting Secretary Rod Bower thinks we can, and must do, if we are to build a meaningful connection with many Australians, and especially with First Nations People.
