Need some tips and ideas? Look no further!
- Keep a small number in your bag in case you need to go shopping and have forgotten to bring your non-throwaway shopping bags with you;
- When you buy food at the deli or butcher ask them to wrap the food up in butcher’s paper without putting it in a plastic bag first and then place it in your own plastic bag;
- Use more robust plastic bags for shopping and storage;
- Take plastic bags when you go swimming to store wet bathers and towels;
- Use plastic bags when packing to cover shoes, store wet bathroom items like shower caps, soap, toothbrushes etc or anything that might leak;
- Use plastic bags to store your dirty washing in your suitcase when travelling;
- Line your wastepaper bins with a plastic bag;
- Keep some plastic bags in the glovebox of the car for rubbish;
- Use plastic bags to pick up dog poo when you take your dog for a walk, or as gloves when you have to pick up any mess;
- Use plastic bags to store paint brushes and rollers that you want to use later (don’t leave them too long);
- Use a plastic bag to cover a palette while you take a break from paining;
- Use a plastic bag to line a paint tray so you don’t use so much water cleaning it;
- Use plastic bags to store baby products when travelling including soiled nappies;
- Use a plastic bag to store ice cubes that have set in the freezer;
- Use different plastic bags to store different items in the freezer; e.g. put bags of frozen nuts in one larger plastic bag – it makes it quicker to find things;
- When you make a meal use a spare plastic bag to store food peelings etc, put it in the fridge and when ready, empty it into the compost;
- Place a plastic bag over a pot of cuttings to create a microclimate to aid growth;
- Place a plastic bag over sensitive plants to protect them from frost;
- Use as a cover for dirty shoes to stop dirt being ground into the carpet;
- Put items to be defrost in the fridge in a plastic bag to prevent leaks onto other food;
- Store bits of used soap in plastic bag until you have enough to melt the pieces and make a new bar of soup;
- Put dough for pastry in a plastic bag and then roll it out;
- There are many craft and decorative items you can make from plastic bags such as baskets, bows and pompoms for gifts, https://artsycraftsymom.com/ways-to-reuse-plastic-bags/
